One of the final entries

So after a long break.. this'll probably be one of the last entries. I am home now and theres not much reason to keep posting if nothing exciting is happening. Haha.

Mom, Dad, Nuna and I had a great time relaxing, bombing around the parks for free and eating out. They said they really enjoyed seeing me as a skipper... and I have a video I'm trying to upload to Youtube, which I'll post here once it finishes (if it does!!).

Me !

Family Time

I had a great last week.. was lookin forward to the end of working, but not to leaving the skips behind. My last shift was great though, only 6 hours, and 4 of it was 101. I ended up doing only 2 land positions my whole shift ! haha

Um, spent a lot of my vacation afterwards hanging out with Brett - trip to Clearwater Beach and a bad bad bad sunburn that I'm still peeling from, couple park visits with the whole family.. It was neat. It was not fun leaving him, but we're Skyping :)

Pics of Us...

Just for fun, you can watch Brett's Vid here..
Part one

Part two

And here's me !

Theres a bit of the first one that overlaps with the second one (Dad and mom taping).

Dad's camera died right before the end of the best joke ever.. so here's the rest of it... "If you came and you laughed, Thank you for laughing... If you came and you didn't laugh... Well then thank you for leaving..... The last ten minutes of you staring at me has been very awkward.. This isn't television you know... I can see you too"

Let me know what you guys think !! (Can you tell I'm proud of myself?)

Tomorrow Tomorrow !!

Tomorrow tomorrow my parents are coming!!! AHH!!

Thought I'd make an annoying post just because I am excited. I've missed them and Nuna and my doggies whole bunches. So now I should be smiling all the time with them around.

Bummer points though... I work until 3 45 am today... and Dad and Nuna and dogs arrive sometime tomorrow morning.. Oh God.. haha...

And blockout dates for the Magic Kingdom are until August 1. This means that I can't get my family in for free until August (after I'm done working). So if they want to see me and videotape me as a skipper in the Magic Kingdom, they'll have to dish out some money (which I can get a 10% discount on) to do so. I can however get them in to tour around Epcot and Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom free until then.

So things to do within the next 2 weeks (while I am still a Disney Employee)...

Cast Connection/ Property Control/ Business Sales (golf carts, lawn mowers, trucks, etc),
Downtown Disney Shopping
Disney Restaurants - like 40% discount at Fort Wilderness buffet for lunch! Wow!
All 4 Disney Parks - I can let them in and leave, I don't have to accompany them.
Special tours that I get like a 50% discount on - stuff like behind the scenes tours
anything else they dream up

Uh.. Wish us luck?

Really Funny Video

Pretty much how we all feel being students who are currently in school for strange degrees or have already graduated. Enjoy !

July 10

So I've had an interesting couple weeks. Nothing incredibly special, but all worth noting.

Had our first evacuation at the Jungle Cruise. Inside the temple is the emergency evac point in case something happens... It's never been used before... Until like last week. I don't know the circumstances, but thats a sure fire way to ruin a guests trip - behind the scenes isn't pretty haha.

You've all heard about the Monorail accident I assume. The verdict at the end was that the Monorail where the driver got killed was on the wrong track. The media around here was ridiculous - cars and pushy people all over - in front of the Disney main gates, wandering parking lots, trying to get glimpses of the broken Monorail still stuck at the Transportation and Ticket Centre.. As well as Disney Fuzz trying their hardest to shoo them away. As employees we all got a script to say to guests.. which was surprisingly revealing as it said that "We are mourning the death of a cast member" among other things. Even more interesting though was that the day after the accident, the park was dead. If the park drops below like 10 000 guests, they debate closing the park early - well we were at peak with 8 000 people. The Jungle Cruise was so pathetic, like maybe a half full boat, and then the next 3 boats would be dead. It was so stupid. We also don't know if it was due to reduced transportation (all of the Monorail system being shut down) or people boycotting Disney.

Had a really great 2 days off. It rained both days for the most part, but I still had a great time. Spent almost the two days straight with Brett - the first day we decided to go to Daytona Beach. Driving down was fun, no rain.. But the second we got to the beach, downpour haha.. So we scooted by the second tallest lighthouse in the U.S and said some "oohhs and aahhss" before deciding that we'd head to Cracker Barrel. After that, and some weather clearing, we went back to the beach and rode some high waves for bout an hour, before getting rained out again. We then drove home (listening to Disney songs). We went to a party later that night for his roomie's birthday where tonnes of people came and played music real loud. haha, we ended up disappearing and watched corny Disney movies til the morning.

The next day was simpler, he went to casting to find out about becoming full time employee, and I did laundry and cleaning of the apartment. We then converged and went to Downtown Disney - where we watched the movie "Up" (soo cute) and did some shopping. Then to Property Control to find him a watch - then Taco Bell back at my place. The night was spent at Fort Wilderness at their movie drive in thing (Mary Poppins)- complete with smores and a few random boat rides. Yes mom, they were dates, and I'm finding that this guy is really great.

Oh, we had our Apartment Inspection this morning - they came in, put check marks everywhere, told us we need to better wipe down the fridge and freezer next time - gave us some cookies and "Passed" us. 3 days of cleaning for less than 5 minutes of checking seems highly unfair haha. And all for some lousy cookies... If we had failed though, each of us would have had to pay $25, so I guess cookies sounds pretty good. I'm really hopin and prayin that the apartment stays this clean - it looks amazing!!!

Um, I'm sorry I'm such a huge slacker on the visual aspect of blogging. I haven't taken a lot of pictures, and definitely none of me yet (except the blurry one above) - plus doing videos annoys me so badly since my computer rarely does them right. I've been going to a lot of get-togethers with skipper friends this week though, so hopefully some of those pictures will emerge on Facebook and I can steal them to put on here. I have yet another tonight only 2 buildings away so we'll see if some pics can be taken then haha.

I miss you guys - feel free to ask questions or fire me emails. When I do sit down to my computer, I'm pretty bored. Love you !!

June 27

Wow, long time since I last posted. My how time flies!

Um... developments include: I am newly single. I have made a tonne of skipper friends and am adding them on Facebook. We're planning on doing Skipper Bowling night.. this goes along with the skipper dinners, parties, and park trips. Roommates are all single now too - so rarely are all roomies home at night as they've found boy toys. I have made good friends with a gentleman with a car, so we've been going out a lot to restaurants and parks that are a trek and a half for me to walk or bus. I'm addicted to ice cream Crunch bars down here. Waste of 2 bucks a day haha! ..

Weather has been nice. It thunderstorms hard one day almost all day, then the next two days are beautiful, and then it rains sometime each day for the next 2 or so. Yesterday in the Jungle, the air was pretty cold, so it was wonderful... Everyone in the apartment is sick again (not me yet!), and we're not quite sure why... I hope the mould hasn't returned.

Went to Hollywood studios the other day off with the gentleman (Brett) and its fun being able to know the tricks. We definitely used the override buttons on all fastpass machines to jump lines (therefore holding more than one fastpass in an hour.. bad us!) .. and then went and watched all the shows and stuff without fastpass. I saw the American Idol Experience for the first time.. Its pretty cool. We also were able to jump the 2 hour wait time at Toy Story Mania because Brett had a friend working that day. We waited all of like 10 minutes. I beat Brett of course! :P.. Another skipper named Alex is scheming to get me to go to Animal Kingdom and try Expedition Everest - we'll probably do that park Monday. The Monday following is a skipper birthday party for a guy named Tommy - the plan is Epcot for various activities, food and a movie I believe. Should be fun!

Oh... Important stuff... I got all the courses I wanted (even the ones with maximum capacity of 20 people!). My design courses include Contemporary Problems in Design, Self, Society and Design, Image and Influence, Design Internship, Typeface Design, Design for Public Awareness, and Communication Design 2. My non-design courses also sound interesting - "Photography, Film and Popular Culture" and "Language, Power and Persuasion". I'm pretty happy (and lucky) that I got all my courses.. I've ben watching the Facebook status updates of friends, and a fair number have not been as successful.

I'm also avoiding Property Control. Every time I go in there, I find something to spend money on. If, however, there is something you would like me to look for let me know. I bought Devon a very nice digital camera for 30 bucks and there's always more like that.. All kinda of shirts, shoes, hats (Disney Merchandise) and beautiful watches and jewelery. Requests, let me know.

I don't know if I've talked about this, but I found out that I might be able to go Seasonal here at Disney. Requirements include working 40 hours a year, and at least one scheduled shift every 6 months. This means I'd be able to keep my Disney discounts, get into the parks for free all year long (I don't know about how many people I'm allowed to get in though). I have to talk to my managers, go through a screening process of sorts, and then hope to be granted the seasonal standing. After that though, I have no clue how it works. Haha.

I miss my dogs. So much. I'm debating going to the kennel clubs here and begging them to let me walk dogs. We have stray cats living at Vista Way.. but I don't think they'd really give me my "fix". Can't wait for you guys to come down too!

Um.. I can't really think of much else. Besides the fact that in the normal skipper way, the puns and the bad jokes follow us everywhere. They become part of our normal way of talking - and can be very very annoying. It'll be interesting to see how long this (annoyance) lasts. :)

Love you guys, give me a shout every now and then if you'd like - here or through email or whatever. Ttyl!
